Navigators Center
Navigators Center Officially open in the summer of 2011, the Navigators Center was founded on the ideas, events, and programs that caring and committed staff, families, and community partners had been supporting long before declaring an official center of support. With an overarching goal of promoting health, wellness, and academic success, the Navigators Center works closely with community partners to provide a wide range of support and opportunities to benefit the student population. As part of our Outreach, E Ola, and Olakino Maikaʻi Program, the Navigators Center organizes dental screenings and services, vision screenings and follow-up, holiday gift drives, school supply drives, and other events to collect or solicit donations of items necessary for basic living (food, toiletries, blankets, clothing, etc.). Both the Health Center and Outreach Specialist work collaboratively to address students' basic needs to ensure minimal interruption to the school day and students' learning. Another on-campus support is the Kamaile Store, at which students "purchase" items they need/want through gaining “Kamaile cards” as part of a positive behavior support system. To engage students, parents, and families in meaningful ways, we partner with the teachers, coaches, support staff, and community members/organizations to support the whole child through coordination of parent engagement events, and after-school enrichment opportunities. Our ʻOhana Programs support large events open to the whole-school including our Winter Fest, Exhibitions (to highlight project-based learning), Sunset at Kamaile (a large project-based-learning event with 9th-grade advisors and students), and our May Day Hoʻike. Knowing that our beloved student population has very specific needs, the staff of the Navigators Center strives to always put students' needs first and approach their collaborative work with aloha. Give us a call, stop by the Navigators Center, or check out the latest events and announcements on our Kamaile Academy social media pages: Instagram or Facebook (@kapcs1).
